Judea Zion Christian Church (ZCC) leader, Bishop Chikamba, has urged Zimbabweans to make full and productive use of the current rainy season by intensifying agricultural activities, saying food security remains key to national development.
Addressing congregants during an Outreach Programme held in Bota Zone, Bishop Chikamba emphasized that the abundant rains present an opportunity for citizens to work the land diligently and improve household livelihoods. He encouraged communities not to waste the season but to focus on farming as a sustainable solution to economic challenges.
The bishop also called on Zimbabweans to uphold prayer for the country’s leadership, describing spiritual support as a foundation for peace, unity, and national stability.
In addition, Bishop Chikamba appealed to parents to actively support government efforts in combating drug and substance abuse among youths. He warned against practices that indirectly encourage drug use, particularly within families.
“Vabereki murege tsika yekukurudzira vana kushandisa zvinodhaka nekuti anenge akuvigirai fertiliser or sugar,”he said, cautioning parents against accepting groceries or farming inputs that may have been obtained through illicit activities linked to drug abuse.
The church service was held under heavy rainfall, a situation Bishop Chikamba described as a blessing that reinforced his message on agriculture and faith. Despite the downpour, congregants remained attentive as the bishop delivered what many described as a timely and impactful message.
The Outreach Programme concluded with prayers for the nation, its leaders, and families, with a strong call for collective responsibility in building a morally upright and productive society.
